Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Popcorn
  • 2 Cups Mini Pretzels
  • 1 Cup Crackers
  • 250g Cheddar Cheese, cubed
  • 4 Mandarins, peeled
  • 1 stalk Celery
  • 1 Bunch Grapes
  • 1 Cup Strawberries
  • 1 Cup Caramel Dip
  • 1 Cup Candy Corn
  • 1 Cup Chocolate-Coated Candies (Reeces Pieces)
  • 1 Cup Gummy Worms or Halloween Gummies
  • 8 Chocolate Oreos
  • 8 Reeces Peanut Butter Cups
  • 8 Mini Choc Chip Cookies
  • 1.2 Cup Candy Eyeballs
  • 8 Ghost Marshmellows

Method

  1. Prepare the dip: Place the caramel dip into a small bowl and position it near the centre of a large serving board.
  2. Add the larger ingredients: Arrange the popcorn, pretzels, crackers, cheese and grapes around the dip, spreading them across different sections of the board.
  3. Make the mandarin pumpkins: Peel the mandarins and insert a small piece of celery into the top of each one to create a pumpkin stem. Arrange them around the board.
  4. Add the ghost marshmallows: Place the ghost marshmallows around the board, spacing them between the larger ingredients so they stand out.
  5. Add the sweet treats: Arrange the chocolate-coated candies, gummy worms, chocolate sandwich cookies, mini peanut butter cups and mini chocolate chip cookies around the board.
  6. Add the fresh fruit: Place the strawberries and remaining grapes into any larger gaps, keeping wet fruit away from crackers where possible.
  7. Fill the gaps: Sprinkle candy corn and candy eyeballs into the smaller spaces throughout the board to create a full and colourful appearance.
  8. Decorate: Add plastic spiders, mini pumpkins or autumn leaves around the outside of the board. Keep non-food decorations separate from the food.
  9. Serve: Serve immediately for the best texture. If preparing ahead, cover and refrigerate for up to 4 hours, then add the popcorn and other crunchy snacks just before serving.

Notes

  • Make ahead: Assemble the board up to 4 hours before serving. Cover and refrigerate, then add popcorn and other crunchy snacks just before serving.
  • Fruit: Wash and thoroughly dry all fruit before adding it to the board to prevent crackers and other dry snacks from becoming soggy.
  • Budget-friendly: Use supermarket home-brand crackers, pretzels and popcorn, and look for Halloween sweets on special to keep the overall cost down.
  • Customise it: Swap ingredients based on your budget and preferences. Brownies, cookies, chocolate bark, vegetables, nuts or additional fruit all work well.
  • Allergies: Check the packaging of chocolate, cookies, sweets and crackers for allergens. Omit peanut butter cups and other nut-containing products if required.
  • Food safety: Keep cheese, fruit and other perishable foods refrigerated until serving. Don't leave the completed board at room temperature for extended periods.
  • Serving size: The nutritional estimate is based on 8 servings and will vary depending on the specific brands and amount of each snack consumed.
