Easy Salisbury Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans (Classic Family Dinner)

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g beef mince
  • 2 brown onion
  • 2 Cloves garlic
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 Cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 Tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1 Tsp Dried Parsley
  • 1/4 Tsp Dried oregano
  • 200 g Mushrooms
  • 2 Cups Beef stock
  • 1 Tbsp Plain flour
  • 4 Tbsp Butter
  • 1-1.2 kg Potatoes
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 300-400 g Green Beans

Method
 

1. Make the Patties
  1. In a bowl, mix beef mince, breadcrumbs, 1 egg, grated onion, 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce and salt & pepper.
  2. Form into 4 oval patties.
2. Cook the Steaks
  1. Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned.
  2. Remove and set aside.
3. Make the Gravy
  1. In the same pan, melt 2 Tbsp butter and cook 1 sliced onion until soft.
  2. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Gradually add beef stock and 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce along with the mushrooms, stirring until thickened.
4. Simmer
  1. Return patties to the pan and simmer in gravy for 10 minutes.
5. Make the Mash
  1. Boil potatoes until soft, drain, then mash with milk, 1 Tbsp butter and salt until creamy.
6. Cook the Beans
  1. Saute green beans with butter and garlic for 3-4 minutes until tender.
7. Serve
  1. Plate mash, top with Salisbury steak and gravy, and serve with green beans.

Notes

You may like to:
  • Swap beef mince for turkey mince for a lighter option
  • freeze patties separately for quick future dinners...this meal is great for meal prep - it reheats beautifully.
